It’s not very often that we’re ALL in the office at the same time. This afternoon, August 31 it worked that we could spend some time together over coffee. What a privilege to interact with these folks. We had the added bonus of having Jake Thiessen our conference Moderator, join us as well.

Update 2: Prayer Request – Chris Hurst

Chris and Elaine Hurst are associate missionaries with EMMC. On August 28, the car jack slipped, and the vehicle fell on Chris. The following is part of an email from Elaine, received at EMMC on August 31.

Dear dear friends

Thanks for the many assurances of prayers and email makes everyone feel so much closer.
When I got to the hospital today I found a very ill man! It didn’t take long to establish via x-rays that the small areas of lung collapse were indeed enlarging so they immediately put in two chest tubes to drain the collected fluids on his lungs.  That explains part of the reason he couldn’t breathe well, as his lungs were filling with fluid.  They are also trying to establish how best to help him with this asthma medication.  If the airways aren’t open he finds breathing very restrictive and therefore no deep breathing.   When I left him tonight his colour had returned to his checks and a bit of light in his eyes.  He exhausts quickly for lack of air. At some point they will do an MRI of his spine.
It is increasingly becoming clearer to us that Chris life was spared miraculously. Most folks don’t survive being pinned underneath a car!!!!!
As a family we appreciate your love and prayers.

To the Glory of God.
Love
Elaine
