Continental Mission – summer camp needs

The biggest need we have is for staffing here at our camps in Manitoba. Midway Bible Camp and Berge Lake Camp both have some staff committed for the summer, but we are still looking for nurse, lifeguard, speaker, maintenance, kitchen, and counselor help for this summer.

The CMI office in Thompson is also in need of a receptionist/administrative assistant, especially during the busy summer months.

Other identified needs that someone may have the solution for are in the following list:

  • 16-18 ft open bow boat with 15-25 hp outboard motor (4 stroke is preferred) to replace stolen unit
  • Septic pump and pill for gray water system
  • submersible pressure pump and tank to replace failed overhead tanks
  • chlorine metering system to comply with health inspectors requirements

The phone number for most of these needs is 204.778.4491or [email protected] and they can talk to Ferlin or Morgan. For interest in Berge Lake Camp, the contact is Travis Vallinga @ 204.356.2218 or [email protected]

Immediate Opening – Teaching Music in Bolivia

Teaching Music in Bolivia—Is This For You?

Below is some information about the staffing needs at our school in Villa Nueva for the 2011 school year.

[This notice is intended for English speakers, although we are also in need of at least one more Spanish-speaking teacher.]

School:  The Villa Nueva School (also called Centro Educativo Menonita) is a school for Low-German-speaking families in the Pailón, Bolivia area.  It is a joint venture supported by EBMC and EMMC but run by a local board and with an interdenominational and interracial staff.

Vision:  To build up the Low-German-speaking Mennonite people in Bolivia, so they become better equipped to serve God and people.

Mission:  To provide a high-quality, Christ-centred, culturally-sensitive education from Kindergarten through grade 12.

Location:  Our campus is located in “Villa Nueva”, a small—but growing—Mennonite community just north of the town of Pailón, approx. 50 km east of Santa Cruz.

School year:  February through November, which is the normal Bolivian school year.  (Teachers should be available for sufficient time before and after the school year as well.)

Languages:  Spanish (primary language of instruction); Low German (mother tongue of most students—used in some classes, including Low German literacy); and English (third language)

Students:  At the end of 2010 we had more than 130 students from Kindergarten to Grade 10, mostly coming from families who have moved out of ultra-traditionalist Mennonite colonies.  For the coming school year, we anticipate continued growth, including adding one more grade.
Staff:  For 2010 we had 16 educational staff (some part-time) from Bolivia and North America.
